BETAFPV LAVA 550mAh 75C Battery Buying Guide
The BETAFPV LAVA 550mAh 75C battery is a compact LiHV pack for micro FPV, toothpick and lightweight cinewhoop builds using an XT30 connector. Although BETAFPV manufactures 2S, 3S and 4S versions, this MEPSKING listing currently offers the 4S 550mAh version as a 2PCS pack.
MEPSKING Expert Test Assessment
MEPSKING analyzed the supplied hands-on flight comparison and controlled battery-analyzer results for the LAVA 550mAh cell family. In the analyzer test, four LAVA packs produced closely grouped discharge curves and delivered nearly 600mAh during a 15C test—more than their stated 550mAh capacity under that test method. Pack-to-pack consistency was one of the strongest results.
The outdoor comparison also showed better throttle recovery and less voltage collapse than older standard BETAFPV packs when fighting wind or recovering from dives. However, the comparison batteries were approximately six months old, so the complete improvement cannot be attributed only to LAVA chemistry.
A separate burst test calculated about 44C using the reviewer's own method. This is not directly comparable with BETAFPV's advertised 75C procedure. Our expert conclusion is that the evidence supports good usable capacity, consistent cells and competitive power density, but the 75C figure should still be presented as a manufacturer-rated discharge specification.
LAVA 550mAh vs 450mAh: Which Should You Buy?
| Specification | LAVA 4S 550mAh | LAVA 4S 450mAh |
|---|
| Nominal Voltage | 15.2V LiHV | 15.2V LiHV |
| Energy | 8.36Wh | 6.84Wh |
| Published Weight | 56.5g | 49.4g |
| Best Choice When | Longer flight time and more usable capacity are priorities | Lower weight and sharper handling are priorities |
Choose the 550mAh pack for cruising, cinematic flying or builds that can comfortably carry the additional 7.1g. For a lighter and more agile setup, compare the BETAFPV LAVA 450mAh 75C Battery.
2S, 3S or 4S: How to Choose
● 2S: Intended for compatible 85mm whoops and low-voltage micro builds where smooth power and low weight matter most.
● 3S: A balanced option for compatible 2–3-inch cinewhoops that need more authority without the full weight and RPM of 4S.
● 4S: Choose this for a motor and ESC specifically rated for 4S when stronger acceleration and higher RPM are required. The current MEPSKING listing sells this version.
Charging and Compatibility
Use a balance charger with a dedicated LiHV mode. The 4S pack reaches 17.4V when charged to 4.35V per cell. Confirm that the drone supports 4S input, uses an XT30 connector and has enough battery-bay clearance for the 67 × 15.5 × 26mm pack.
Choose the LAVA 4S 550mAh when you want more endurance than a 450mAh pack without moving to a much larger micro-FPV battery. Store it at approximately 3.8–3.9V per cell and discontinue use if the pack becomes swollen, damaged or abnormally hot.
