Buying Guide: SkyRC e430 Balance Charger

A Simple AC Balance Charger for 2S–4S LiPo and LiFe Batteries

Not every pilot needs a complex 200W smart charger with menus, apps, storage programs, and multiple output channels.

The SkyRC e430 Balance Charger is designed for pilots who want a straightforward wall-powered charger for one 2S–4S LiPo or LiFe battery at a time. It includes an internal 100–240V AC power supply, automatic balancing, and three fixed charge-current settings: 1A, 2A, and 3A.

For beginner FPV pilots, RC hobbyists, and anyone charging a small collection of 2S, 3S, or 4S packs at home, the e430 offers a simpler alternative to a full-featured programmable charger.


Pilot Charging Capability

The e430 is rated at 30W maximum output power and up to 3A charge current. Both figures matter.


The charger can provide its full 3A setting only when the battery voltage is low enough for the total output to remain within 30W. As pack voltage increases, especially on 3S and 4S batteries, the charger is limited by its 30W power ceiling.


In practical terms:

● 2S LiPo: The charger can operate close to the 3A setting.

● 3S LiPo: Actual charge current may fall below 3A as voltage rises.

● 4S LiPo: The practical maximum current is lower—roughly 1.8A near a fully charged 16.8V pack.

This does not make the e430 unsafe or ineffective. It simply means it is best suited to smaller batteries and patient home charging, rather than fast-charging large 4S packs.

The e430 automatically balances cells during charging. Its balance current is rated at 200mA, and the LED indicators show charging, constant-voltage charging, balancing activity, completed charging, and common error conditions.

Recommended Battery Pairing

The SkyRC e430 is a good match for:

● 2S LiPo batteries for small RC cars, 2S FPV drones, and lightweight aircraft.

● 3S LiPo batteries for entry-level FPV quads and RC models.

● 4S LiPo batteries in modest capacities when charging speed is not the priority.

● 2S–4S LiFe batteries used in compatible RC applications.

The charger includes an XT60 charging cable, and additional charging adapters may be needed depending on your battery connector.


Before connecting a battery, confirm all of the following:

● The battery is LiPo or LiFe, not LiHV, Li-ion, NiMH, or Pb.

● The battery is between 2S and 4S.

● The main battery connector and balance lead are both connected correctly.

● The selected battery type matches the battery chemistry.

● The selected current is appropriate for the battery’s manufacturer-recommended charge rate.

What to Keep in Mind

The SkyRC e430 is intentionally a basic charger. Its limitations are important before buying.

● It charges one battery at a time.

● It supports LiPo and LiFe only.

● It does not support LiHV, Li-ion, NiMH, Pb, or other battery chemistries.

● It supports 2S–4S only.

● It does not offer a dedicated storage-charge mode.

● It does not provide high-power fast charging for large packs.

● It uses fixed 1A, 2A, and 3A current selections rather than precise current adjustment.

● It requires both the main charge lead and balance connector to be connected correctly.

For pilots with 6S FPV batteries, several packs to charge simultaneously, LiHV packs, or a need for storage charging, a higher-power multifunction charger is the better long-term choice.


Battery Safety and Care

The e430 includes short-circuit and reverse-polarity protection, but safe LiPo charging still depends on correct use.

● Never leave a charging battery unattended.

● Charge only on a non-flammable surface, preferably inside a LiPo safety bag.

● Do not charge puffed, damaged, leaking, or overheated batteries.

● Confirm cell count and battery chemistry before connecting the pack.

● Keep the charger and battery in a ventilated area.

● Do not charge LiPo batteries above 4.20V per cell.

● Disconnect the battery after charging is complete.

● Do not attempt to charge more than one battery through the balance ports at the same time.
