Our expert verdict is that the RadioMaster TX16S MKII remains a strong choice for pilots who want a full-size radio with many switches, a large touchscreen and room to manage multiple aircraft. In the supplied hands-on reviews, the improved switches felt more positive, the S1/S2 knobs and side sliders had clearer center detents, and EdgeTX touchscreen navigation made model setup noticeably faster. One reviewer used the internal ELRS version for approximately one week without reporting connection problems.

It is not the most portable radio: its full-size body and approximately 750g weight without batteries are better suited to pilots who value controls and screen space over a compact travel setup. Batteries are not included.

Should You Choose ELRS or 4-in-1?

Choose internal ELRS if most of your current or future FPV drones use 2.4GHz ExpressLRS. It provides the most direct buying path for a modern ELRS fleet. Choose 4-in-1 when you need to bind compatible FrSky, FlySky, DSMX or other multiprotocol receivers. You can later add an external ELRS module through the JR bay.

For demanding long-range applications requiring greater RF power or a different antenna, consider a compatible external module and follow local radio regulations.

The V4.0 Hall gimbals already provide improved centering, temperature stability and external adjustment, making them the better-value choice for most pilots. Choose the RadioMaster TX16S Mark II Max when its premium finish or fully CNC AG01 gimbals justify the additional cost. The Max version does not automatically provide a better RF link when the selected protocol and RF hardware are otherwise the same.

Setup and Buying Notes

The bottom USB-C port is used for internal charging, while the top USB-C connection is used for data, simulator operation and firmware access. After purchase, update EdgeTX and the matching ELRS Lua script together, confirm the transmitter and receiver use compatible ELRS major versions, calibrate the gimbals and check the battery-voltage reading. The current MEPSKING options are FCC versions, so buyers in regulated regions should confirm local requirements before ordering.
