MEPSKING Expert Review: Who Should Buy It?

Our assessment of independent hands-on reviews favors the SKY04X Pro for analog pilots who prioritize OLED contrast, an immersive image and HDMI flexibility. Try the faceplates and adjust IPD, focus and aspect ratio before deciding whether the optics suit you. 

What Should Racing Pilots Check?

A separate hands-on comparison reported increased latency and uneven motion on the tested units. Skyzone now lists latency-related firmware and subsequent image-tearing fixes, but that does not establish the performance of every shipping unit. Our advice: confirm hardware and firmware versions, then test your normal analog setup before competitive racing. Do not choose this model on a “zero-latency” promise.

SKY04X Pro vs SKY04O Pro

The SKY04X Pro offers 1920×1080 OLED panels and a maximum 52° diagonal view, compared with 1280×720 and 42° on the Skyzone SKY04O Pro. Choose the X Pro when the larger display and supported 720p/100fps HDMI input matter. Consider the O Pro if you prefer a smaller image and its lower price. Neither screen resolution alone nor FOV proves lower latency.

Analog and Digital Compatibility

The included SteadyView module receives compatible 5.8GHz analog video. Digital use requires a separate compatible HDMI-output receiver; the goggles do not natively receive DJI video. The 1080p panels do not turn an analog feed into HD, and 100fps requires a supported source and output mode. The right-side cooling fan also rules out a second receiver for quadversity.

Before Your First Flight

Use compatible 2–6S LiPo power through the correct cable, verify polarity and set the battery warning. For an RHCP video setup, consider the SMA version of the SpeedyBee 5.8GHz Antenna V2. Match antenna polarization to the aircraft and check DVR recording before takeoff.
