If you only need a basic headset for flying Walksnail and will never use HDMI, analog video, or other expandable features, you may not need all the additional capabilities of Goggles X.

Check Your FPV Video System Before Buying

Goggles X is primarily designed for the Walksnail Avatar HD system, so your FPV drone needs a compatible Walksnail video transmitter and camera system for wireless digital FPV.

The goggles also provide additional video connectivity:

Walksnail Avatar → Wireless FPV Video → Goggles X

For analog FPV, the AV IN interface accepts analog/CVBS video through a compatible receiver setup. The HDMI IN can also accept external video sources, including compatible HDZero setups, and can be used as an external display for computers and FPV simulators. HDMI OUT allows the video feed to be displayed on another screen.

Important: HDMI IN and AV IN do not turn Goggles X into a standalone receiver for every FPV system. You still need the appropriate external receiver or video source.

Choose the Right Power Source

Goggles X accepts 7–25.2V input and supports 2S–6S batteries. This gives you more flexibility than goggles limited to lower-voltage packs.

For most pilots, a dedicated 2S–4S battery is a practical choice for goggles because it keeps the power setup relatively compact. If you already use 6S batteries and want to simplify your gear, Goggles X can also accept a compatible 6S pack within its specified voltage range.

Always check the battery voltage and connector before powering the goggles.

Do You Need Different Antennas?

Goggles X uses removable antennas, giving you the option to keep the standard antenna setup or change the antenna configuration for your flying environment.

For normal freestyle, racing, and general FPV flying, the standard antennas are a good starting point.

Consider an antenna upgrade if you regularly:

-Fly long range

-Fly behind obstacles

-Need improved directional coverage

-Want to optimize your video link for a specific flying environment

The modular front design also allows additional antenna or receiver configurations, making Goggles X more flexible than a conventional fixed-design FPV headset.
