Understanding FPV Assembly: A Guide to FPV Drone Screws

by Kunkun

This guide introduces the various types of screws essential for FPV drone assembly, covering their specific uses from frame assembly, securing ESCs and flight controllers, motor mounting, to attaching top plates and cameras. It highlights the importance of using the correct sizes and types, like M3 button head screws for frames, long screws for ESCs and flight controllers, socket head screws for motors, countersunk screws for sleek top plate design, and M2 or M1.6 screws for camera mounting, ensuring a successful and efficient drone build.

FPV Drone Screws to Assemble the Frame

First up, you need screws to assemble the frame. Take 5-7inch FPV as an example, button head screws in M3 are the most commonly used screws, typically used in conjunction with standoffs. The length of it will be 8mm or 10mm, it depends on each different frame.

Long Screws for ESC and Flight Controllers

What’s more, there are screws in pretty long lengths like 34mm or around; these long screws are used to secure the ESC and flight controller. Small drone, like 3 inch around will use more M2 screws.

The longer one will mount on the arm guard. But don’t worry, the motor manufacturer will offer you the screws, but when you lost some and need replacement, be careful to use the right length one, don’t let the screws touch the motor winding.

Countersunk Screws for the Top Plate

Some frame will use countersunk screws to mount the top plate of the frame, to make it looks flat and better designed.
