Buying Guide: How to choose a 5-inch freestyle motor
If your goal is a 5-inch freestyle drone with strong throttle response and a heavier, more aggressive flying style, the T-HOBBY Pacer P2406 V4 is a very different proposition from a conventional 2306 motor. Its 24mm stator diameter and 6mm stator height give it a larger motor platform, while the 2060KV winding is designed around 6S freestyle performance rather than simply maximizing RPM.
T-HOBBY positions the P2406 V4 specifically for JUICY, SBANG, FLOW and BANDO-style flying, where rapid throttle changes, strong torque and controlled acceleration are more important than simply having the lightest possible motor.

Propeller & Battery Matching
For the P2406 V4 2060KV, 6S is the natural starting point. T-HOBBY recommends 5-inch three-blade medium-to-low-pitch freestyle propellers with approximately 2.9–4.7 pitch, paired with 6S power. Recommended examples include T-HOBBY/T-MOTOR T5143S, HQProp J33 and J37.
For battery capacity, T-HOBBY recommends approximately 6S 1000–1850mAh depending on the build and payload, with a takeoff-weight target around 810g for its reference setup. A 1000–1300mAh pack favors a lighter and more responsive build, while 1500–1850mAh provides more flight time but increases overall weight.
One important point: do not choose a battery based only on mAh. The final battery choice should be based on total aircraft weight, propeller load, desired flight style and available current.
ESC Selection
The P2406 V4 can demand significantly more current than a lightweight 2306 setup. The manufacturer lists a 48A peak-current figure and specifically recommends the T-HOBBY P60A V2 or V50A SE. For the V50A SE, T-HOBBY notes that appropriate ESC settings are important to avoid desync.
For a serious 6S P2406 build, a quality 50A-class or higher 4-in-1 ESC is a sensible starting point, with sufficient headroom for the selected propeller and flying style.
MEPSKING Purchase Verdict
The T-HOBBY Pacer P2406 V4 2060KV is not simply a replacement for the P2306. It is a more specialized motor built around high-torque, aggressive freestyle performance.
Choose the P2406 V4 if you want a powerful 6S 5-inch freestyle drone for JUICY/SBANG, punch-outs, power loops and aggressive acro. Choose the Pacer V3 P2306 if you want a lighter, more traditional freestyle setup. Choose the Velox V2306 V3 if price, versatility and multiple KV options are more important.
For pilots specifically chasing the heavy, locked-in, high-torque SBANG feeling, the P2406 V4 is the clear choice of these three.
