Buying Guide: THOBBY P1604 Motors
Choosing the right FPV motor is about balancing power, weight, and throttle authority. On 3" and 3.5" micro quads, 1404 motors can struggle under digital HD payloads, while larger motors add unnecessary weight.
The THOBBY P1604 (~11.6g) delivers higher low-RPM torque than traditional 1404/1504 motors while keeping your build well under the 250g limit.
Why Choose a 1604 Stator Over 1404 / 1504?
Cleaner Prop-Wash Control: The ~13.7% larger stator volume over 1504 motors provides extra torque reserves. This allows lower Dynamic Idle settings (~1,500 RPM) without prop-wash, resulting in smoother recoveries and longer inverted float times.
Low-End Throttle Authority: Stronger torque in the bottom 30% of the throttle range easily handles the added weight of digital HD gear (DJI O3, Walksnail) or naked action cams.
Minimal Power Penalty: Adding only ~1.5g per corner over 1404 motors results in a minimal ~4A increase in peak current draw, making it fully compatible with standard 20A–30A AIO ESCs.
