FPV Charger

Choosing the appropriate charger is very important to ensure effective and safe flying of FPV (First Person View) drones. A suitable charger not only enhances battery life but also makes them readily available for use whenever needed. In this article, we will discuss the types of FPV batteries, how to choose the right one, power considerations, and when you can charge multiple batteries. What FPV Charger Do You Actually Need? Before choosing a charger, you should first understand your flying style and battery setup. Different FPV pilots have different charging requirements. A beginner may start with a 4S battery, but many modern 5-inch freestyle and racing builds use 6S batteries, so choosing a charger with enough voltage and power headroom is a better long-term investment. Understanding FPV Battery Types and Charging Requirements It is paramount to know what kind of battery will be used in charging when selecting the charger for an FPV drone.…

Charging LiPo batteries is one of those things every FPV pilot does all the time, but it is also one of the areas where bad habits can cause the most problems. A good charging routine keeps your batteries healthier, your flights more consistent and your workspace safer. A bad routine can shorten battery life, create unbalanced cells, damage packs or, in the worst cases, start a fire. In the previous article, we talked about what LiPo batteries are, how they work, how they differ from Li-ion packs and how to store and discharge them properly. This time, we will focus on charging: modern chargers, balance charging, storage mode, discharge mode, internal resistance, charging at 1C, charging times, parallel charging and the most common mistakes to avoid. Modern LiPo Chargers Modern LiPo chargers are much better than the basic chargers many people started with years ago. A good charger today does much more than simply push current into a battery. A proper FPV charger can read the number of cells, monitor each cell individually, balance the pack, charge at a chosen current, discharge the battery, bring it to storage voltage and often measure internal resistance. This is why using a real…
