The Foxeer F722 V4 flight controller is designed for 5-inch freestyle, racing, long-range and X8 FPV drones that need reliable gyro processing and extensive peripheral support. It combines an STM32F722 processor, ICM42688 gyro, six UARTs, dual BEC outputs and a standard 30.5×30.5mm mounting pattern.

MEPSKING Expert Performance Assessment

After reviewing the hands-on teardown and hardware layout, our expert assessment is that Foxeer has paid particular attention to the ICM42688 gyro’s power supply. This modern gyro can provide fast, responsive data, but it also depends on clean 3.3V regulation and effective electrical filtering. The comparatively substantial voltage-regulation section is therefore more meaningful than simply listing a modern gyro on the specification sheet.

The full-size board layout provides accessible solder pads, a four-in-one ESC connector, six UARTs and additional motor outputs for X8 configurations. From a builder’s perspective, this makes the Foxeer F722 V4 particularly attractive for advanced freestyle, long-range and cinelifter builds that require more expansion options than a basic four-motor flight controller.

Real Build Experience: Strengths and Limitations

The Type-C port, dedicated ESC connector and clearly separated wiring areas help simplify installation. Its 5V/3A and 9V/3A BEC outputs also provide more power headroom for modern FPV electronics than boards with lower-rated BECs.

The main limitation is the 16MB Blackbox memory. It is sufficient for PID tuning and diagnosing gyro noise, but pilots who record many complete flights may prefer a controller with 32MB or more storage. The package also includes only four silicone grommets, so take care not to lose or damage them during installation.

Choose the Foxeer F722 V4 when X8 support, strong BEC outputs and flexible wiring are the priority. Choose the iFlight BLITZ F7 V1.2 if you want 32MB Blackbox storage. The MEPS SZ F7 Analog Flight Controller is a more economical option for an analog 5-inch build.

Installation and Purchase Advice

Confirm that your frame supports a 30.5×30.5mm mounting pattern and leave enough clearance for the Type-C port. Soft-mount the board with the supplied grommets and compare the FC and ESC pinouts before connecting the ribbon cable. Use the FOXEERF722V4 Betaflight target and remember that this version supports 3–6S input. Even if the selected ESC supports 8S, the complete system must remain within the FC’s 6S limit.
