Which BETAFPV LAVA Battery Should You Buy?

The BETAFPV LAVA 1S 300mAh 75C Battery is designed for a very specific type of FPV build: lightweight 1S Tiny Whoops and micro quads where battery weight has a direct effect on acceleration, handling and flight feel.

With a weight of only 8.3g, the battery is significantly lighter than the LAVA 2S, 3S and 4S packs in the same 75C family. It also uses a BT2.0 connector instead of the XT30 connector found on the larger LAVA packs. This is not simply a smaller version of the 2S–4S batteries; it is designed around the electrical and mechanical requirements of a different class of aircraft.

For a 65mm Tiny Whoop, the LAVA 1S 300mAh is the option to choose when you want a lightweight battery with strong punch and responsive handling.

If you are flying a larger 2S–4S whoop or cinewhoop, move up to the LAVA 450mAh or 550mAh packs instead.

What Makes the LAVA 1S 300mAh Different?

The key specification is not just the 300mAh capacity. The combination of 1S voltage, 75C discharge rating, 8.3g weight and BT2.0 connector determines where this battery works best.

The LAVA 1S 300mAh is a LiHV battery with a 3.8V nominal voltage and 4.35V maximum charging voltage. Its rated capacity is 300mAh, with 1.14Wh of nominal energy. The pack measures approximately 63.5 × 11 × 6.4mm.

BETAFPV uses its Z‑Folding cell process instead of a conventional winding process. According to BETAFPV, this design provides approximately 5% higher energy density within the same volume and can maintain a discharge platform approximately 0.2V higher under equivalent loads. The lower internal resistance is intended to improve high‑current discharge behavior and maintain a more stable voltage under throttle.

For a Tiny Whoop, these characteristics matter because there is very little excess power available from a 1S system. A battery that maintains voltage more effectively under throttle can make the quad feel more responsive, particularly during rapid direction changes and full‑throttle acceleration.

LAVA 1S 300mAh vs LAVA 2S/3S/4S

The most useful comparison is within the LAVA 75C family.

The LAVA 2S/3S/4S 450mAh battery is available in three voltage configurations while maintaining the same 75C rating. The 2S version weighs 26.1g, the 3S version weighs 37.8g and the 4S version weighs 49.4g. All three use XT30 connectors with 16AWG silicone wires.

That means the choice between these batteries is primarily determined by the power system of the aircraft, not simply by the desired flight time.

Z-Folding Process

The Z-Folding Process Battery demonstrates remarkable performance and versatile capabilities. Leveraging its low internal resistance, it enables efficient high-current discharge within shorter time frames, resulting in elevated discharge platforms. Compared to the Winding Process Battery, it achieves a 0.2V higher discharge platform under equivalent loads, ensuring consistent and robust power output, additionally, it boasts a 5% higher energy density within the same volume, accompanied by an extended cycle life. The Z-Folding Process allows precise customization of electrode sizes based on lithium battery dimensions, optimizing control over battery size and shape. Its battery performance is superior, with a wider range of options for appearance and shape, and its applicability is also broader compared to the Winding Process Battery.

Warning:

● Please fully charge the new battery before use.

● Only use a charger designed for lithium polymer/Li-ion battery, and never leave the battery unattended during the charging process.

● Always keep the battery away from flammable and explosive materials while charging.

● Never overcharge the battery. The maximum voltage for a LiPo battery is 4.2V per cell, and for a LiHV battery is 4.35V per cell.

● Never discharge the battery to a level below 3V per cell under load.

● Do not store fully charged batteries for more than 3 days. For long-term storage, maintain the voltage between 3.8V and 3.9V.

● Do not disassemble, crush, short circuit, or expose to flame or other sources of ignition.

● Do not use batteries that are deformed or swollen.
