What Does the LAVA 1104 Feel Like in Real Flight?  

The numbers tell only part of the story. The LAVA 1104 7200KV is better suited to responsive and efficient small FPV builds than an all-out racing setup. Its progressive throttle response gives pilots useful control throughout the throttle range, while the lightweight design helps maintain the nimble feel expected from a 2.2" quad.  

BETAFPV's published test data shows up to 4.71g/W efficiency at 30% throttle with a 2.2" three-blade propeller. Thrust increases progressively from 29g at 30% throttle to 137g at 70% and 234g at full throttle under the published 12V test conditions.  

This combination makes the motor well suited to smooth cinematic flying, lightweight freestyle, indoor FPV, efficient cruising, and situations where you still want enough power for quick punch-outs.

3S Is the Sweet Spot

For the 7200KV version, 3S is the configuration to prioritize. BETAFPV's published test data is based on a 12V setup, and the motor is specifically positioned for 3S 2.2" FPV builds. If you're building around 4S, the LAVA 1104 5500KV version is the more appropriate choice.    

7200KV vs 5500KV: Which LAVA 1104 Should You Choose?

Higher KV does not automatically mean better performance. The right KV depends on your battery voltage, propeller, aircraft weight, and intended flying style. Choose the 7200KV version for 3S 2.2" builds, while the 5500KV version is better suited to 4S applications.

At only 5.3g, the motor produces a published maximum of 234g of thrust with the specified 2.2" propeller, giving it an impressive thrust-to-weight ratio for such a compact motor.
