A: This is an unassembled DIY power combo. Builders will need standard soldering tools, heat shrink tubing, and basic hardware tools to solder the ESC motor leads, power distribution board (PDB), and install the components onto a drone frame.
Q: What size drone frame is the Air Gear 450 II combo designed for?
A: The Air Gear 450 II set is optimized for 350mm to 450mm wheelbase quadcopters (such as standard F450, S500, or custom 350-class aerial frames) with a total quadcopter takeoff weight ranging between 1.2 kg and 2.2 kg.
Q: Can I use 3S and 4S LiPo batteries with this kit?
A: Yes. The AIR 2216 880KV motors and AIR 20A ESCs support both 3S (11.1V) and 4S (14.8V) LiPo batteries. Using a 4S setup will provide higher thrust reserves and faster punch-outs, while a 3S battery offers smooth cruise characteristics for stable aerial photography.
Q: How do the self-tightening propellers work, and do I need tools to mount them?
A: No tools are required for mounting the props. The T9545 props feature integrated CW and CCW threaded hubs that screw directly onto the motor shafts. When the motors spin up, the rotational direction naturally keeps the propellers locked tight against the hubs.
Q: Are the AIR 20A ESCs pre-calibrated and ready to use?
A: The AIR 20A ESCs come flashed with optimized multirotor firmware. However, as with all DIY drone builds, you should perform a standard throttle range calibration through your flight controller (e.g., ArduPilot, PX4, or Betaflight) after completing your wiring and soldering.
